A man from the Charlevoix region faces multiple charges after Memphrémagog Police officers were physically assaulted during an impaired driving arrest in Magog on June 7, 2026.
At approximately 9:30 p.m., the Régie de police Memphrémagog (RPM) received a public complaint about a vehicle being driven erratically on Rue Principale Ouest, near Chemin Roy.
Officers say they located the suspect within minutes and arrested him for impaired driving. Once at the station, the man refused to provide breath samples and physically attacked officers. He was held overnight and released the following morning.
The suspect, a man in his thirties, now faces potential charges including impaired driving, refusal to provide breath samples, and assault of a police officer. His vehicle was seized for 30 days and his licence suspended for 90 days.
The RPM thanked citizens for their vigilance and reminded the public that dangerous driving behaviour can be reported anonymously at 819-843-3334 or by calling 911.
